This is going to hurt some feelings but I'm ok hurting your feelings if I can inspire you to save yourself and your family.
I need this to scare you into action. PLEASE.
Do you want to know why so many Americans are dying of Covid and countries like China have just a fraction of our deaths?
America has an obesity rate of 42%. Because of this, we are incredibly vulnerable to viruses.
Obesity + Covid should terrify you.
Obesity + diabetes + Covid is Russian Roulette.
This MUST be a wake up call. Please, PLEASE!
If 150,000+ deaths doesn't open your eyes... how bad does it need to get?
Brazil is creeping up to 100,000 deaths... their obesity rate is 34%.
Look up all of the countries who have significantly less deaths and then check their obesity rate. Check their diabetes rate.
China has a 6% obesity rate. 6%!!
I'm ashamed that more medical professionals aren't talking about diet, exercise and body composition.
I'm pissed that they're not DEMANDING that people lose weight, eat better and exercise to save their own lives.
I'm not here to shame you - but I want you to live, damnit!
Instead, people are GAINING weight through this pandemic, increasing their odds of death if they contract the virus.
People are drinking more alcohol, they're eating terrible food (lots of it) and exercise a lot less (if at all).
You're twice as likely to DIE of Covid if you're obese.
Masks, vaccines, sanitizer and treatment options are not enough.
That's like bringing a knife to a gun fight when almost half of our country is obese.
Will I wear a mask for you? Yes.
Will I sanitize and wash my hands constantly for you? Yes.
Will I do everything that I can to minimize spreading the virus to you? Yes.
But if you're obese, I need you to take ownership and change your health, your eating habits and your activity level NOW.
If not for yourself, then for your family.
Do you want them to be without a mother or father? A sibling? An aunt or uncle? A grandparent? A best friend? A spouse?
It will take some serious changes and hard work but you are 100% in control and have the ability to do so.
Yes, you will have to change the way you eat.
Yes, you will have to exercise 3-4 days per week.
Yes, you will have to change how you spend your time.
Yes, you will have to change WHO you spend your time with.
Yes, you will have to change how you cope with stress and feelings.
Yes, you will have to make sacrifices and do hard things that you don't feel like doing.
And it takes daily, consistent maintenance.
Great health is not a destination - it's something that is achieved and maintained through daily discipline and choices.
It's thousands and millions of tiny choices that compound over time.
Unfortunately, I think America will continue to be slaughtered by Covid because we have a 40%+ obesity rate.
And obese people will feel the wrath of the next virus.
This happens every pandemic - obese people died at much higher rates during H1N1 outbreak.
Obesity kills you slowly .... but obesity + Covid is VERY dangerous because...
- Obesity causes low-grade, systemic inflammation.
- Obesity compromises your respiratory function.
- Obesity will more than DOUBLE your risk of developing severe pneumonia.
- Obesity makes more of something called “complement” proteins. These proteins can trigger out-of-control blood clotting, which is a problem in patients with severe Covid.
- Obesity causes your blood vessels to clog - this blockage causes heart attacks, strokes, and lung damage.
- Obesity causes insulin resistance - this turns up the ACE2 receptors. ACE2 is what the virus BINDS to. If you’re insulin-resistant, you have even more receptors for those spike proteins on your cell surfaces.
... and the list goes on.
No one deserves to die of Covid.
But you're playing a very dangerous game when you're obese - you're more susceptible to everything.
If you're overwhelmed with how to start, please message me.
I don't care if you barely know me... I don't care if you live on the other side of the world from me - you don't have to be ashamed.
I just need you to WANT to change and be willing to take action.
I can at least give you some starting points and baby steps that you can take to get into momentum.
